Port of Seattle SeaTac Airport Runway 16L Reconstruction

Category Airport Runways
Location SeaTac, WA
Owner Port of Seattle

For this $50 million project, the main runway at SeaTac International airport was removed and replaced by a 150-foot-wide and 11,900-foot-long concrete runway that complies with Port of Seattle and FAA standards. Runway construction consisted of a new 20-inch thick concrete layer atop 12 inches of sub base and four inches of asphalt.  Inspections included soil density and testing of 1,591 concrete beams at our on-site laboratory, along with extensive testing of subgrade, base course, concrete aggregates and fly ash.
